Arrived in Kaohsiung

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum

We had no idea what to expect when we arrived in Kaohsiung. This city lays in the south part of the island next to the sea. All the hotels in the coming period were full, because of a holiday and the hotels that were left were expensive. One of the biggest places to visit here is the Buddha Museum. It is very easy to reach. We took the bus from Xin Zuoying to the Museum. It was full and this was on a weekday. We went there early and that was a good thing. We had a good place to sit. When we entered the museum, we first walked through a mall. At the back of the mall, we entered the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum. We were surprised because it was free. The museum was very big. We walked between a few pagodas towards a big golden buddha. The place was magnificent.

Around the Lotus pond

One of the places we also had to visit was the Lotus Pond. This is a large lake with several places of interest. Before we arrived at this pond we found a gate, the Fengyi Gate. Behind it there was a small park that we walked through. After that we arrived at the pond, we visited the Pagodas, but they were closed. After that we came across the Spring of Autumn Pavilions. At this place we had a magnificent view across the lake. Here we walked inside the mouth of a dragon.

When we entered Koahsiung, we had some trouble carrying our suitcases. There was almost no sidewalk or a lot of indifferences. We did not expect much of this town. After a day it started to grow on us. If wou want to know more about our trip in Taiwan, go to Taiwan Travel Destination ยป Tim and Ellen’s Blog (timellen.net)
