Arriving in Greece

And now for something completely different? Ok, maybe just a little. After we left Empoli we drove to the city of Ancona to meet with friends. From Ancona we had booked two cabins on a ferry to get ourselves and our cars across to the city of Patras in Greece. There we had another short drive to a small fishing village called Korfos where we would stay for a little over two weeks.

The Mansion

After a pretty non eventful boat ride that lasted over 26 hours we arrived at our house in Korfos. It is just as ridiculous as we had imagined from the pictures. It is massive, boosting 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen, multiple balconies, a jacuzzi, swimmingpool and a massive garden. We don’t want to leave ever…

Day trip 1

After recovering from the journey to Greece we had our first day trip planned. We would visit a few “local” sites. The first on the agenda was the Ancient Theatre of the Asklepieion, one of the biggest Greek Theatres in the world. When we arrived we had to go through thorough Covid protocols of just showing we had something in our covid app… They did not actually read anything.

The theatre was nice though, and really massive. Next to the theatre was a small museum with ornaments and statues found in the area and a bigger dig site with lots of remains from old buildings, temples and a race track.

Next was the city of Nafplio were we had lunch, but when we arrived we saw the huge cliff with an cool looking fortress and we decided to go visit it.

It was sitting up very high above the city so we had a nice view onto the bay and the city. Because it was late in the afternoon and we were one of the very few tourists, we could explore the big site on our own. There we not many restrictions and you could explore everything freely.

That’s it for our fist update from Greece, once again we think we will do just fine here!
