    Comics and Cobblestone

We’re in the middle of Tuscany now. With it’s autumn colors it’s a sight to behold. Sadly we can only stay for two days so we made the best of it. The first day we took the car and drove the small quiet roads to the small city of San Gimignano. Some people call it the Manhattan of Tuscany, because of its medieval towers. From afar it does somewhat resemble a modern skyline. It was a nice place to stroll around in and take in the scenery. With the pretty weather and all the colors around us it does not really matter where in Tuscany we would go, it was…

Rome’s finest and our new stay

Rome The first day We went to Rome for two days and we can describe it in one word, only we rather write the details on this webpage. The last time we visited Italy, Rome was not our mission. So we went back to do the visiting. The first thing we saw was the Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini. Because under the church there was a crypt we wanted to see. Before we entered the crypt, we saw some of the relics from holy things or people and of course a lot of paintings. When we entered the crypt, it wasn’t allowed to take any pictures. But we can…

    Foooood

Ok Mr Dabolina, Mr Bob Dabolina. You had asked for it, and here it is. A blogpost about Italian food! One of the things we need to mention about Italy is the food. Since we have arrived back in Italy, we have been eating very well. From the delicious baked goods in Puglia to the real deal Neapolitan pizzas, we simply want more. We just let the pictures do most of the talking here. Although there is one specific thing we need to mention, and that is a place called Emilia which is located here in Massa Lubrense, just south of Napoli. It is the most amazing pizza we’ve had.…

    Pompeii and Amalfi

Pompeii Normally the first thing we think about when we are talking about Pompeii is the eruption many years ago. We kind of forgot about it…. When we drove by a sign that said Vesuvius, we were looking at each other thinking about the fact that that was the reason we wanted to visit Pompeii in the first place. One of the first days in Massa Lubrense we visited the ashed city of Pompeii. It was really big. We walked around for two hours and it peaked our interest at many ways. There were houses we entered and large floors tiled with mosaic. After our walk we ended our trip…

    Beautiful buildings and scenery’s

The great city of Polignano a Mare Before we left Puglia we wanted to visit Polignano a Mare. That supposed to be one of the “must see” towns in Puglia and we agreed with it. When we walked to the town we walked over a boulevard that was rather new. From there we could take a peak at the town itself. The house on the outer side of the town where build on rocks that divided them from the sea. With beautiful white and brown colored buildings it really was a sight we will remember. Inside the town there was a center that was filled with restaurants and souvenir shops.…

    From Greece to Italy

Meteora One of the things we really wanted to visit before leaving Greece was the Meteora. Meteora is a magnificent place known for it’s sandstone towers and it’s many monastery’s. It’s a wonderful place to hike through and to drive around. As we drove to this beautiful place we weren’t sure that we could see something because of the mist. In the morning there was a lot of mist in the mountains and therefore on our road. When we arrived it cleared up a little bit so we drove around and saw some magnificent views. Travel day At the same day as we visit the Meteora we also had to…

    Pisa and Florence

As we left Aosta we drove a little more to the south-east and we settled in Empoli. This city lies nicely in between two major tourist destinations, Pisa and Florence. We booked a nice apartment close to the train station and could visit those two cities easily by train. Pisa We already had a feeling about this city that it was not going to be that impressive. As soon as we arrived and walked straight to the tower of Pisa we knew, we were going to be done here in five minutes. The cathedral was immensely crowded and even though you could enter for free, you still needed to pickup…

    Emilia Romagna

Once again we have moved. This time from Aosta to our new home in the region of Emilia Romagna, in a tiny town called Carbona. Here we rented a small appartment which was an old home with a large garden. The garden was looking out over the hills and a river. Apart from the train tracks on the other side of the house, the place was sleepy and quiet. Luckily the trains only ran a few times per day and that equals no problem. Because we had moved so often the last few weeks we took a few days to relax. We hung out, worked a bit, and dipped into…

    Arriving in Aosta, Italy

The house Last period we haven’t shown you the places that we stayed. In Iceland we slept in a van and after that I think we kind of forgot about it. The first subject in our travels is our stay in Aosta. Up until now the home is very wonderful and is only half an our from the center of Aosta. But there is a side note to it. It’s very noisy and for a Dutchman it can get quite hot inhere. We don’t get much of sleep. Here are some photo’s of the stay. Rafting Aosta lies between the mountains with a river cold Dora Baltea. This river is…
