History of Chiayi

Prison of Chiayi

The history of Chiayi. It has a Hinoki village and a mining track which we visited. One of the places we visited was their prison. The prison was closed between 12:00 and 13:30h. Before entering we walked around and enjoyed some bubbletea. We found that the prison was rather mother with small cells. It has some outside courts and bathing places. We found it very intriguing.

Fenqihu (Alishan)

Part of the history of Chiayi is the railway for mine workers and used to go to Alishan. It was not possible to go to Alishan for us, because of typhoon damage. This train departed once a day. The tickets were sold out very vast and we could not get on the train. We did however manage to get train tickets for a return ride. So we took the bus that departed from Chiayi train station and road to Fenqihu (the last place the train stopped). The walking trails were very nice. Our top attraction was the train. And it was really nice. The trains max speed was around 30 kilometres an hour. Boy, did we had much fun.
