    Olympia

New stay We were staying in a small village called Kakovatos. This was the closest house to Olympia that we could find. It’s only a 45 minutes drive away. The cabin is called Turtle cabin and it’s close to the sea. It’s small but had everything we needed for a couple of days. We haven’t got any photo unfortunately. Olympia Olympia is one of the places we really wanted to visit. As we expected, we had a great time. There were a few buildings still standing. The one that stayed the best with us was the stadium itself. When we entered we walked through an archway that was connected to…

    Monemvasia and rocky road

Monemvasia the house As we said in our last blog, when we arrived in our house we fell in love immediately. The scenery and the house itself, has everything we need and more. It’s a really nice place to stay, including Monemvasia itself with his sea view restaurants. Monemvasia’s Byzantine structures The reason we went to Monemvasia was because of the structures they have. Monemvasia is a village in the South-East of Pelopennese. It’s actually a peninsula attached to a peninsula. We found out it is one of the nicest structures in the Pelopennese and maybe on the mainland too. The place is only accessible by foot and it’s a…

    Rent a boat and Corinth

Korfos sea fishing Tim loves fishing and wanted to go out on the see to catch some. So he rented a boat for this. The last time he went fishing, let’s say it could have been better. He caught one small fish and instead of catching another one he was left with some sea plants and an angry, luckily small octopus, because it just sounded fun to juggle the octopus around. Tim was surprised with the power the octopus had that was holding his fishing rod and struggled. When he got his fishing rod back, he saw a bitemark in it. When we (Tim, Ellen and Wilco) hired the boat…

    Athens

Our friends gave us a heads-up that Athens was the opposite of the small fishing village we currently stay at. They were right. Early in the morning we drove the car to a city closeby where we took the train to Athens. We slowly got prepared because of the dirt and trash piling up along the way. When we arrived at Athens Central station we were greeted by heat, more dirt, trash and a lot of traffic. We did not expect a city with such a rich and well-known history to be this neglected. Beautiful buildings completely riddled with graffiti and dirt, a lot of just abandoned properties. Some streets…

    Arriving in Greece

And now for something completely different? Ok, maybe just a little. After we left Empoli we drove to the city of Ancona to meet with friends. From Ancona we had booked two cabins on a ferry to get ourselves and our cars across to the city of Patras in Greece. There we had another short drive to a small fishing village called Korfos where we would stay for a little over two weeks. The Mansion After a pretty non eventful boat ride that lasted over 26 hours we arrived at our house in Korfos. It is just as ridiculous as we had imagined from the pictures. It is massive, boosting…

    Arriving in Aosta, Italy

The house Last period we haven’t shown you the places that we stayed. In Iceland we slept in a van and after that I think we kind of forgot about it. The first subject in our travels is our stay in Aosta. Up until now the home is very wonderful and is only half an our from the center of Aosta. But there is a side note to it. It’s very noisy and for a Dutchman it can get quite hot inhere. We don’t get much of sleep. Here are some photo’s of the stay. Rafting Aosta lies between the mountains with a river cold Dora Baltea. This river is…
