Hike in Chiclana de la Frontera
One of the first things we wanted to do when we got here, is seeing some landscapes in the neighbourhood. We walked through a nature area and saw some birds, crabs and flamingos. It’s really strange to think about where we are, because we’re almost in Afrika. That was a realization we had at that moment seeing the flamingos.
After a lot of days working in our bnb in Chiclana de la Frontera, we decided to go on our first trip. For two days we were playing tourist in Sevilla. We rented a hotel in the middle of the city. The first thing we went to see was the cathedral of Sevilla. The cathedral had a tower, called the Giraldi tower, which is inside of the cathedral. We had some magnificent views up there. We could see the palace and the bull fighting arena. After that we went down to see the inside of the cathedral. It was really big. We had no idea that this was the place where Columbus his body is buried. It was a big and symbolic grave.
From the cathedral we walked to the bull fighting arena. It had a small museum, but the arena was more interesting. Bull fighting is stopped in most places, because of the animal protection. Which is a good thing. We walked to the umbrella which is a big wooden, modern building in the middle of the city. This is mostly a place for skaters. It is great to see it ones.
One of the reasons we wanted to go to Sevilla, was because of the Palace Real Alcazar. It was really worth it. We saw some amazing things inside of the palace. They have a lot of Delfts blue in the palace architecture, but more of the tiles are inspired by Rome architecture. Some of the walls are left standing from the Byzantine period and inside we saw a lot of Moorish textures. Also, the gardens were very lovely.
In Sevilla you also have a plaza called Plaza de España. It is a very beautiful place, but very touristic. You could hire a boat or stroll around the plaza. There were a lot of music and a few market stalls.
We liked Sevilla very much. It’s a wonderfull place. We think it’s very crowded in the summer.
